Work plan

SUPER will be coordinated by BFI and performed in cooperation with six other partners (CSM, K1-MET, TUDO, EIT, SSSA, GIT) and one associate partner (ESTEP). The project is structured in 5 work packages designed according to the flow of work and information to achieve efficiency despite the wide scope.

WP1 is overarching, dealing with coordination, management and internal communication. In this work package, particular attention is paid to the scheduling of the recruiting and dissemination events, meetings, reporting and publications and finally project monitoring and quality checks.

WP2 will give an update concerning decarbonisation scenarios and current and future technologies. Relevant activities of the European steel industry, that support industrial sector coupling will be compiled. Besides state-of-the-art technologies, promising upcoming sector coupling solutions will be considered as well as coupling to the energy systems and media supply. Previous and running projects will be exploited for industrial implementation prognosis and as basis for the development of recommendations in WP5.

WP3 is focused on recruiting and skilling activities and planning and roll out of a RACE events. Recent recruiting and skilling activities will be reviewed considering also activities in other energy intensive industries. Main focus of WP3 is the preparation, roll-out and evaluation of a recruiting and skilling RACE event in Poland. The students will have access to the SUPER experts and topics during the RACE by challenges which are aligned to the industry needs as well as the technical aspects of WP2.

WP4, is supporting the whole project by focusing on external communication. This includes digital media as well as several workshops and surveys delivering input to the respective WPs but also events for dissemination of results.

WP5 exploits the results of WP2-4 to identify challenges but in particular to identify possible synergies. On this basis future activities and policy initiatives will be recommended to support all relevant stages of the decarbonisation transformation: From R&D via first technology demonstration up to full industrial roll-out.
